Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins

Business is so good Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins has to turn customers away.
That’s testament to the fine service and first-class cabins owner Lynn Relf provides to her tourist customers.
Taking care of your customers and making sure a family-oriented atmosphere presides over her cabin rental area, are priorities Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins not only believes in, she enforces stringently.
I have some rules and they must be followed, says Relf. I want a family-oriented place for my customers to stay.
That’s why her business has been so successful. The quiet setting in the middle of the hamlet, coupled with excellent service, has happy customers coming back again and again.
Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins has now been open four years. It may not be the largest business as only four cabins are available for rent, but the need is there and customers are jumping at the chance to rent a nice, clean cabin with the comforts of home.
Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins features two 14x16-foot cabins complete with kitchenette, bathroom, bedding and towels. It can sleep four (two adults and two children) comfortably.
The other two cabins are 16x20-foot cabins, again complete with kitchenette, bathroom, bedding and towels. It can sleep six comfortably as it has two double beds and two loft beds.
The cabins are so completely furnished with everything campers or hunters need, Relf says all customers need to bring is food.
And if they don’t the cabins are located only two blocks away from a food store to the east.
Relf, who lives on site and takes a very hands-on role in operating the business, not only gets tourists and campers booking but citizens attending such events as weddings and anniversaries.
Relf is trying to discourage large family reunion bookings to around 20 people, however, as she does have limited space.
And we do have other campsites in the hamlet people can utilize, she says. Use the campsite.
Relf is dedicated to her business and goes beyond the normal limits to satisfy customers. She says she will run errands for them if they are out on the lake and can’t get to the store in time.
If you need anything, just ask, she says. I want people to feel like they’re coming home.
It’s strictly service, she adds. I want to help people out to make sure they have a good time.
And it’s obviously working. Relf says, almost everyone is repeaters for bookings so they must be pleased with the cabins. Customers have come from mainly the Edson, Hinton, Jasper and Edmonton areas.
Fees for the cabins are $45 for the summer season (mid-May to mid-October) for the smaller cabins and $55 for the bigger cabins. Winter rates are $25 for the smaller cabins and $35 for the bigger cabins. All prices include GST.
Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins is located on Peace River Ave. In Joussard. Travelers coming in from the south entrance just turn left at the lake and the cabins are two blocks to the west.
Hawk’s Hide-a-Way Cabins is open year-round and can be reached at 776-3750 seven days a week, 24 hours per day.
